The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape and the majestic Fishtail Mountain. From there, the trek starts at Nayapul and follows the trail along the Modi River, passing through villages and bamboo forests. As you ascend, you'll encounter the challenging stone staircase of Ulleri village before reaching Ghorepani, a popular rest stop.
One of the highlights of the trek is the early morning hike to Poon Hill, where you can witness a spectacular sunrise over the snow-covered peaks of the Annapurna range. The panoramic views of mountains such as Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre are truly awe-inspiring. After enjoying the sunrise, you'll head back to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing on to Tadapani. The trail becomes more forgiving, and you'll pass through lush pastures and fields.
From Tadapani, the trek continues to Ghandruk, a large Gurung village known for its rich cultural heritage. Here, you can visit the Gurung Culture Museum and learn about the traditional way of life of the Gurung people. The trek concludes with a trek back to Naya Pool, followed by a drive back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.
Throughout the trek, you'll stay in comfortable tea houses or lodges, where you can enjoy meals and rest. The trek can be done during the best months of March to May and September to November, with May being the optimal time to witness the blooming rhododendrons.
